Room 28 was given a mini greenhouse with a seed tray. We have decided to experiment using this mini greenhouse to sow leek seeds and see how fast will it germinate than compared to sowing seeds outdoors.
Week 1 Thursday 6 May
Here is our mini greenhouse.
Week 2 Wednesday 14 May
When we checked our mini greenhouse this morning we spotted a tiny sprout. See if you can spot the sprout.
Wednesday 21 May
Our leek sprouts have grown a lot bigger since our last post. The tallest sprout is about 11cm long. we have about 80% of the seeds sprouted. During the day time we left the tray out in the sun with the cover over it so it generates more heat.
Monday 26 May
Our leeks have grown a lot since our last update. The leek seedling are looking very healthy. We watered it this morning. We reckon that the seedling are ready to be transplanted into our school garden by the end of next week.

This is a working

Now its ready to water.
week 6 Thursday 12 June
We decided it was time to start transplanting our leek seedlings in to our school garden. We thought it might be best to plant it in the morning because the weather forecast was rain in the afternoon. Why plant before rain as the rain settles the seedlings right in.
This is just before the transplanting process.

Dog safety with Diana and Lincoln (the dog)
On Wednesday afternoon Room 28 went to the hall for the dog safety show. The special instructor was Diana and her dog Lincoln. Diana taught us how to be safe around dogs and how to greet a dog when you are out and about.
We learned that you always:
- Ask the owner before you touch a dog-NO OWNER, NO TOUCHING!
- Make your hand into a rock to allow the dog to sniff you
- Touch the dog on the chin and chest
- Stand like a tree if you feel scared of a dog-NEVER RUN AWAY!
- Make yourself into a rock and cover your ears with a fist if you get knocked over by a dog

A day with Prince William and Kate
Imagine meeting Prince William and Kate. Imagine
eating lunch with them.
I have written two tasks below. You can do both or
just one.
1. Write a diary about having lunch with Prince
William and Kate.
2. Write a lunch menu for the couple. Include a starter, main course, sides and
desserts.
You have till 11 April to complete either one of the task.
Confetti Challenge
Learning Intention:
- We are brainstorming different ways to tackle this week’s challenge
(to make a confetti launcher)
- Brainstorm as creative as I can be
Success criteria:
- When I have brainstormed a great idea to tackle our challenge
- An idea that is not copied of somebody but mine
- My idea involves creativity

This week for our writing we are writing an explanation what is confetti?
Here is some of our explanations:
WALT: Write an explanation to give directions.
Success Criteria: To explain how to get to school,
so the reader can follow the directions.
How to get to school from my house every morning
Walking to school is a routine for me. Back and forth 5 days a week. I am the only child that walks by myself. The directions are easy and simple. Firstly I walk down my drive way shaped like
a hill. It takes about 15 seconds. Then I turn left and keep walking straight. You keep on going straight. This is the time when you walk on the concrete
and it turns to a curve, keep on waking. When you get to the end of Holly
Street, turn left and you will arrive at the Eastdale Reserve. You walk on the
concrete leading got the school. The field is right there and that’s my school
Tresardi
My house is not far from school so I
walk every day. I come out of my drive
way and turn left and go straight past the dairy then past the take way shop
then I come up to the crossing that goes straight .
I wait less than 2 minutes then I come
up to the crossing that turns left to Eastdale Reserve then I walk straight to
school.
Rahil
I walk to school every day. I sometimes may walk with my friends. It takes me approximately three minutes to get
to school. Here are my directions to get
to school. First of all you go out of my terribly long driveway. Then turn
right, walk straight for about two minutes. Then you should reach the
intersection of Rosebank School. Cross the intersection and then turn right
into Rosebank School.
Sophie
Every day I walk to school. I mostly
walk to school with my sister. It takes
us at least 10 minutes to walk from home to school. These are the directions from my house to
school. You go out the driveway of my house turn left and start walking
straight until you get to the road. Than
cross the road and keep walking straight until you get out of Orchard Street.
Later when you’re out of Orchard Street this time turn right and keep walking
straight. Finally on your way on the left side there is a Rosebank school sign
and also Rosebank School road patrol students on the traffic light.
Every day I walk to school. My walk from my street to Rosebank School it
takes me 10 minutes to get to school. The directions from my house to rose bank
to school is first you go out of my house and then turn left and go straight
then turn left again and go to the lights when you’re at the lights you cross
and then you’re at Rosebank.
Manase
Every single day I walk to school by
myself. It takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to get to school. First I go out the
gate of my house then turn right and keep walking until you get to the corner
of the street. Then I turn right again
and keep going until you pass in front of collage. So when you pass collage you
keep walking until you stop in front of Rosebank dairy on the other side of the
road .Then you turn right keep going straight until you reach Rosebank School
crossing lights. But before you reach Rosebank School you have to go past the
bus stop then you’re finally there.
Isadora
Every day I walk to school with my
sister. Sometimes go by myself. This is the way you go. Firstly you walk from
the driveway onto the footpath then keep walking until you reach the top of the
road were you will find a cemetery don’t cross it but walk beside it on the
pathway. Walk all the all the way until
you find a crossing. Finally cross the
road and you will be at Rosebank School.

Nearly every day I walk to school with
my brother. It takes us 10 minutes to
walk to school. First we walk down our
long driveway and turn right. Keep
walking straight ahead and turn right again, keep walking past Rosebank
Dairy.
After that you cross the road using the
pedestrian crossing and turn left. Keep
going straight till you come to Rosebank School.
Losaline
Every morning I go to school by
car. My dad drops my brother and I
together. First I go out of my driveway and turn left on
Maple Street. Then I get dropped off by
the shop then I cross the road using the crossing then walk on the felid. Then I am at school. It probably takes me 10 minutes
Lamese
Every day I walk to school. I walk with my big brother it takes us about
10 minute’s maybe. From our driveway we cross the road and turn right. Keep going
straight till you get to the traffic lights.
Cross the lights and turn left.
Keep going straight and you are at Rosebank.
Khent
Every day I walk to school with my two
little brothers to school. Here are the directions from my home to school
First I go right then I go straight then
I turn right again and then go straight again then go straight past the ally
way. The ally way is kind of long but I don’t think it’s that long. After that
I go right again. When you go right you’ll see the light then cross the lights
and you made it to Rosebank.
Lupe
Sometimes I travel by car and the other
times I walk. I will tell you how to walk from my house to school. I walk to
school with my mum and brother, it takes around 7 minutes. Firstly you walk
down the drive way then you turn right onto the foot path. Now you walk straight up the road. Before you
reach the 3rd speed bump you cross the road onto Eastdale Reserve
and walk across Eastdale Reserve until you reach Rosebank school.
Dallas
Every day I go to school in a car
because I wake up late. The directions
from my house to school is that you need to reverse out of the drive way. Then
go up the hill and then turn right and go straight. Then there will be a curve
and follow it and then keep going straight until you see a dairy. Then turn
right and that’s how you get to school from my house to school.
